The word Darap has its origin from the limboo (Tribal) word " Tanlop" which literally means a plain or even land, which is situated at an elevation of 5,790ft. The village, is highly dominated by the limboo (tribal communities), it occupies a place of pride in one of the richest limboo culture heritage of Sikkim and it is a land of exquisite beauty and place of natural sightseeing especially for the zealous wanderlusts.
Daragoan Retreat (Gurung Homestay ) is run by Mr.Shiva Gurung and his family. Mrs.Radha Gurung is a knowledgeable housekeeper who cooks very tasty and delicious local food. His daughter Neysang and son Prabal support their parents whenever they visit their home during school/college vacation. His niece Kamala also lends a helping hand in managing the homestay. Mr. Gurung is member of Darap Eco-Tourism committee and Pelling Tourism Development Association. He is working for Sustainable and Responsible Tourism in an around the village. The homestay provides organic items as souvenir.

Darap can be reached by shared jeep or by reserved taxi from
Siliguri (shared jeep available at 7am & 1pm near SNT bus stand and
Gurudwara Sevoke Road) and Gangtok (shared jeep available at 6am &
1.30pm from taxi stand).
We provide pick-up and drop at airport (Bagdogra) or railway (NJP)
station for your safe journey. Darap is located mid way between
Pelling-Yuksam road.
